Jhulan Festival
The Jhulan Festival, also known as the Jhulan Yatra, is a beautiful celebration of Sri Sri Radha and Krishna observed during the sacred month of Shravana (July–August). Traditionally, the festival begins on Shukla Ekadashi, the eleventh day of the waxing moon, and culminates on Purnima, the full-moon day.
Jhulan Yatra commemorates the joyful pastimes of Radha and Krishna swinging together beneath the trees of Vrindavan. Devotees lovingly recreate this enchanting pastime by decorating the temple swing with fragrant flowers, fresh forest creepers, jasmine blossoms, garlands, and beautiful ornaments.
During the festival, devotees have the opportunity to sing devotional songs, chant the holy names, and gently swing the Divine Couple.
Jhulan Yatra is a joyful and intimate festival that invites devotees to remember the loving pastimes of Sri Radha and Krishna in Vrindavan and to deepen their devotion through service, kirtan, and heartfelt worship.
The festival culminates on Shravana Purnima, which is also celebrated as the appearance day of Lord Balarama, the eternal elder brother and servant of Sri Krishna.
Join us at Sri Sri Radha Damodara Mandir to experience the beauty and devotion of Jhulan Yatra and immerse yourself in the loving mood of Sri Vrindavana-dhama.
