Sri Krishna Janmashtami 2026 will be observed on Thu ,Sep 3and Fri, Sept 4, 2026. The festival is also known as Krishna Janmashtami, Krishna Ashtami, Gokulashtami, Saatam Aatham, Ashtami Rohini, and Krishna Jayanti in different regions and traditions.
Janmashtami is observed on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada, commemorating the divine appearance of Lord Krishna. The most significant worship takes place during Nishita Kaal, the sacred midnight period traditionally associated with Lord Krishna’s appearance.
We observe Sri Krishna Janmashtami in accordance with the devotional tradition established by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. The day is centered on remembering and serving Lord Krishna through fasting, hearing Krishna-katha, chanting the Hare Krishna Mahamantra, deity worship, Harinama Sankirtan, and the midnight abhishekam.
This year we will be celebrating Janmashtami for two days on 03 and 04 Sep 2026 at Sri Sri Radha Damodar Mandir.
