Ratha Yatra

Ratha Yatra

Ratha Yatra, the grand chariot festival, is one of the oldest and most celebrated festivals in the Vaishnava tradition. It commemorates the annual journey of Lord Jagannatha, along with His siblings Baladeva and Subhadra Devi, as They travel from Their temple to bless everyone in the city with Their divine darshan.

At Sri Sri Radha Damodara Mandir, Shrewsbury – India Heritage Foundation (IHF), Boston, the festival will be celebrated in full traditional glory on Saturday, July 5, 2025. The deities of Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva, and Subhadra will ride majestically on a beautifully decorated chariot through the streets of Shrewsbury, accompanied by ecstatic kirtans, dancing devotees, and festive joy.

The chariot procession will begin from Shrewsbury Town Hall (100 Maple Avenue) and culminate at the temple premises on 226R Grafton Street.

The festivities will include:

    • Pulling the Ratha (Chariot) through Shrewsbury streets
    • Sankirtan (devotional chanting) and public participation
    • Welcome ceremony and cultural programs at the temple
    • Sumptuous Jagannatha Mahaprasadam for all

Ratha Yatra is an invitation to all—regardless of background—to receive the Lord’s mercy. Don’t miss this spiritually uplifting experience with family and friends!
